About the Artist

Artist Bio

John Clark Baker is a visual artist from Lexington, Kentucky. A lifelong creator, he began formally studying art at age 9 at the School for the Creative and Performing Arts. In 2013, he received a Scholastic Gold Key for his oil painting “Down the Drain”, and by 2019, he was producing commissioned photorealistic colored pencil pet portraits.

He graduated from Northern Kentucky University in 2022 with a BFA in Graphic Design and a minor in Entrepreneurship. After college, he worked as a graphic designer for an environmental firm, contributing to visual communication strategies rooted in sustainability. He also takes on freelance design and illustration work, ranging from branding projects to custom artwork.

Now based in New York City, his work spans from detailed portraiture, vibrant oil paintings, to innovative graphic design, all tied together by a deep sense of craft and creative storytelling.
